Library information

Welcome to the Alternative Education Schools Library

Our Library is open to all students of the Alternative Education Center (AEC) and we have a
great assortment of books of various genres and reading levels. 
 
    Did you know that parents can have a library account too? 
Feel free to stop by the library to create a parent account. Parents can check out up to 5 books for 3 weeks at a time.
Students can check out up to 3 books for 3 weeks at a time.
 
If you need help with your Chromebook or Hotspot, please don't hesitate to contact me. 
 
 
● 7:45am-11:00 am: The library is open daily for walk-ins!
During this time, students, parents, and teachers are welcome to visit the library for all their needs.
 
● 11:00 am-2:30 pm: The library will be closed!
This time is reserved for Mrs. Curtis's classroom instruction. We appreciate your understanding and support in respecting this schedule! Mrs. Siems will also be working at other sites during this time. We are currently discussing potential “drop-off” locations within the building for books, textbooks, and loaner Chromebooks. While we don’t have a designated location yet and have some concerns, we will keep you updated on our progress.
 
● 2:30pm-4:00 pm:Library re-opens. The library will be open again for everyone!
Mrs. Siems will be available to assist you during this time.

Bienvenidos a la Biblioteca de Escuelas de Educación Alternativa

Nuestra Biblioteca está abierta a todos los estudiantes del Centro de Educación Alternativa (AEC) y contamos con una Gran variedad de libros de varios géneros y niveles de lectura.
 
    ¿Sabías que los padres también pueden tener una cuenta en la biblioteca?
No dude en pasar por la biblioteca para crear una cuenta para padres. Los padres pueden sacar hasta 5 libros, durante 3 semanas. Los estudiantes pueden sacar hasta 3 libros durante 3 semanas a la vez.

 
Si necesita ayuda con su Chromebook o Hotspot, no dude en ponerse en contacto conmigo.
 
 
  • 7:45 am-11:00 am: ¡La biblioteca está abierta todos los días para personas sin cita previa!

Durante este tiempo, los estudiantes, padres y maestros pueden visitar la biblioteca para satisfacer todas sus necesidades.

Si bien aún no tenemos una ubicación designada y tenemos algunas inquietudes, lo mantendremos informado sobre nuestro progreso.

Battle of the Books (BOB)
 
Please get in touch with Mrs. Capalare, Mrs.Elisarraraz or Ms. Alice (Library) if your student would like to participate in the Battle of the Books.
 
At PRISC a variation of participation is as follows:
If not enough students sign up to build teams to perform a site battle, students might battle each other instead. (A predetermined 10 must-read book list will be established in that case.)
All participating students will then automatically participate in the district battle and will be put in teams with other district schools.
 
Should we have enough students participating, teams will be formed and the best team will move forward.
 
The District Battle of the Books will be on April 11, 2025.  
  
 
 
Comuníquese con la Sra. Capalare, la Sra. Elisarraraz o la Sra. Siems (bibliotecaria) si su estudiante desea participar en la Batalla de los Libros.
 

En PRISC se permite una variación de participación de la siguiente manera:
Si no se inscriben suficientes estudiantes para formar equipos para realizar una batalla en el sitio, los estudiantes podrían luchar entre sí. (En ese caso, se establecerá una lista predeterminada de 10 libros de lectura obligada).
Todos los estudiantes participantes participarán automáticamente en la batalla del distrito y serán puestos en equipos con otras escuelas del distrito.

Si tenemos suficientes estudiantes participando, se formarán equipos y el mejor equipo avanzará.

La Batalla Distrital de los Libros será el jueves 16 de mayo de 2024.
Todas las batallas del sitio deben completarse antes del viernes 10 de mayo para poder participar en la Batalla del Distrito.

Competition Qualifications:

  1. Must be in a participating Grade.
  2. You must read at least 10 (or more) of the 28 books on the book selection list.
  3. Complete a summary for each book read (please talk to your teacher or Ms. Alice)
  4.  You are responsible to maintain your personal file in the “BOB Box”.
  5.  You should try to attend all the “Battle of the Books” student meetings held during school.
Calificaciones de competencia:
  1. Debe estar en un Grado participante.
  2. Debes leer al menos 10 (o más) de los 28 libros de la lista de selección de libros.
  3. Complete una actividad para cada libro leído (hable con su maestro o Ms. Alice))
  4. Usted es responsable de mantener su archivo personal en el “BOB Box”.
  5. Deberías intentar asistir a todas las reuniones estudiantiles de la “Batalla de los Libros” que se llevan a cabo durante la escuela.
