Scholarships

CASCWA's San Joaquin Section has a goal of annually providing cash awards and scholarships to the Foundation for deserving students, who have overcome adversity and are proceeding with their future educational and/or life goals.  Each of the scholarships are presented in the memory of Anthony Brucia--a young man who turned-it-around!

Do you know a student who is deserving of this award?

First, please note that all information and announcement can be found at the Anthony Brucia Success Awards Foundation web page at: https://cascwa.wildapricot.org/Anthony-Brucia-Success or, a Google search for “Anthony Brucia Success Awards.” We are also listed with “Going Merry.”

Second, note that the amount of each “Anthony Brucia Success Award” is $1,000.00 cash. Winning students can also continue to receive $1,000.00 per year for up to an additional three years as long as they continue to be in a school and in good standing.

Third, confirm your applicants are expected to graduate by the end of the school year from a high school located within the San Joaquin Section of CASCWA, that is, the school public or private must be located within any of the following counties: Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Stanislaus, Tulare and Tuolumne.

San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church is pleased to offer scholarships to deserving San Luis Obispo County residents to further their education.  These scholarships differ from the usual GPA requirements in that we are looking for students who are actively involved in advancing social justice, equality, the celebration of diversity and stewardship of the environment.  We believe this moment in history calls us to invest in the future of students who will actively contribute to making our society a better place for all people.

The actual amount of the scholarship from $500 to $5000 may be based upon actual need.   It is designed as a supplemental source of funds to offset educational expenses for county students attending a college, university or trade/technical school.

A copy of the SLOUMC application form is attached.  Completed applications and letters of recommendation must be sent to the SLOUMC Scholarship Committee by May 1, 2024.  The winner(s) will be notified by June, 2024.

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions relating to this process at 805-544-2120 or [email protected].

    Best wishes,

  • This quick session will include an overview of GCU scholarship opportunities including our NEW Pell Grant Match scholarship. Brooke will also be discussing types of FAFSA financial aid and how students can get their updated offer letter from GCU. Lastly, Brooke will provide a full breakdown and explanation of costs including tuition, fees, and housing. Please share this with students who could benefit!

I know many students are Pell eligible and depending on the scholarship they are receiving from us, this could get them quite a bit more money! If you have any students you think would benefit from this, please feel free to let me know and I will be happy to help them.

Thank you!
